Persist even when a city is briefly offline

How to read this

Air-quality monitoring is imperfect: stations go offline, feeds lag, and coverage varies by country. Rather than paper over the gaps, we show them. A city "reporting" means we received a fresh reading (within the last few hours) from at least one particulate monitor and computed its AQI. Cities that are momentarily offline keep their page but display "data updating" instead of a stale or invented number.

Indian data comes from the Central Pollution Control Board via the Government of India open-data portal (updated hourly); international data comes from public monitors aggregated by OpenAQ. We exclude readings that fail basic sanity checks, and we never publish an estimated or back-filled figure as if it were a measurement. Last network refresh: Wed, 23 Sep 2026 23:11:29 GMT.
